Riley Maternity Tower Opening September 12, 2021

Riley Maternity Tower Education

Thank you for your preparedness as we plan for the opening of the Riley Maternity Tower on September 12, 2021.  Education requirements have been implemented for providers who will be practicing in the Maternity Tower.  Resources and computer-based training modules are located on the Center for Physician and Advanced Provider website, https://iuhealthcpe.org/, and are assigned based upon the provider’s role within the tower.  Please complete the appropriate training based upon the following guidelines:

Tier 1 Training: Specialists and Consults that will infrequently work in the Maternity Tower

Tier 2 Training: Providers working in the Maternity Tower full time, a certain period of time, or throughout a rotation.

Instructions to access the required provider education:

  1. Login to https://iuhealthcpe.org/
  2. Search for “Riley Maternity”

The direct links to the training are as follows:

N-Acetylcysteine Interference with Accu-ChekInform II Blood Glucose

What: New Discern alerts in Cerner will make sure patients on IV N-acetylcysteine (NAC IV infusion) do not receive glucose testing with the Roche POC Accu-Chek Inform II meters.

Why:   NAC IV infusion will cause an overestimation of blood glucose results with the Roche Accu-Chek Inform II blood glucose monitoring system.  Use iSTAT test cartridges and blood serum glucose tests instead.
