Cardiac AL Amyloidosis - Course
-
Did you know that March is Amyloidosis month? Amyloidosis is a disorder in which misfolded native proteins deposit extracellularly and lead to organ damage. Although the various types of amyloidoses share in common the deposition of misfolded proteins that aggregate as fibrils in tissue, they differ in actual protein composition, organ involvement, prognostic implication and most importantly, treatment. It is therefore critically important to determine the type of amyloidosis a patient has in order to provide the appropriate treatment.
After viewing this module, you will be able to identify and describe the different types amyloidosis, explain the commonality of amyloidosis, identify which organ amyloidosis affect and how it affects them. You will be able to describe the pertinenet physical examination and cardiac findings in AL amyloidosis and describe the definitive tests used to diagnose AL amyloidosis.

Going with the Flow: High Flow Nasal Cannula in Transport - Course
-
In light of COVID-19, high flow nasal cannula has been an increasingly popular modality for acute respiratory distress and failure. It has proven effective in avoiding mechanical ventilation and potential downstream end-organ failure associated with prolonged ICU stays. In fact, HFNC has taken the place of conventional non-invasive ventilation strategies in many cases. In light of that fact, how does HFNC work, and how do we effectively care for patients when this form of therapy is indicated? Though tailored to the transport environment, this presentation will answer those questions for any discipline caring for this patient population.

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:

2. Describe at-risk patients by utilizing victim-centered interviewing techniques
3. Describe best practices to provide and promote trauma-informed care
4. Explain how to best equip health professionals to intervene safely on behalf of patients
5. Describe when to connect patients, providers, clinics, and hospitals to resources
